This very rare set was a limited production in 1972 by the Columbia Aluminum Extrusion Group. The pieces were cut from aluminum extrusion with the light army in a natural Copper finish and the opposition in a chemically treated polished finished that resembles tortoise shell.
In this set the most striking pieces are the pawns which are represented as silhouettes of strong arms with axes as symbols of both protection and attack.
The pieces are stamped on the bottom ICE 1972 and displayed in a case which doubles as the chess board.
